Norman Wright's Special News

To my good friends and people of significance (you may determine which category you belong!)

After careful concentrated contemplation it would appear there is a strong probability of the possibility of a potential life altering as well as enhancing and enriching event in the calm, plodding, uneventful life of H. Norman Wright.

Said event is set to occur in Kern County, specifically Bakersfield (no—it is not a bass tournament although I did toy with having this as part of the event, but upon my suggestion was given one of those “looks” that told me if I valued living, don’t go there!) So back to the event which will occur at 1:00 pm on Saturday June 26th (details to follow).

Said event will totally change H. Norman Wright’s lifestyle, habits, daily routine and cause him to communicate more, be more other-centered, challenge his flexibility, as well as his embedded proclivity—to be too busy as well as being a goof off, keep on growing and hopefully live longer. So, what is this major event you ask? Even if you didn’t ask, here it is…

H. Norman Wright is planning on moving from being a widower (I hate the word) to the realm of marriage as he embarks upon matrimony. This has been a process of study, thought, discussion, consultation with others and prayer. Who is this lady? Her name is Teresa Prince and she is very involved in Women’s ministry at Valley Baptist. She has a heart of compassion for others and the Lord. Tess is very proficient and creative with computer design and as most of you know I’m not sure where the on button is. She loves me, my animals and wants to learn to catch bass.

I would ask that you keep Tess (or Teresa) and I in your prayers and hope you can save the date. So we are officially betrothed.

The official presentation of the ring was completed - being somewhat of a romantic it turned into quite a production, which we both enjoyed!

This has already been a time of learning and growth as we encounter the details of a fairly large wedding. It’s been over fifty years since I dealt with some of these details. Here are some of my questions and responses which have already arisen:

“Why can’t I see the wedding dress if I’m paying for it?”
“I didn’t want to buy the photographer’s equipment! I just asked for a quote for a wedding album!”
“I thought you could wear cut offs to any event in Bakersfield. Why not this one?”
“I thought it was a good idea to have Shadow and Aspen as Flower Dogs!”
“Why not have the bride and groom on top of the cake dressed in waders?”
“She didn’t like the idea of a bass lure or plastic worm for a wedding favor.” (By the way she is an earlier riser and wants to learn to catch bass—YES!)

Well that’s all for this epistle.

We’re thankful to God for this new opportunity to glorify Him in marriage in this chapter of our lives.

In Him,

Norm
