How to Promote

The following are suggested ways of reaching others which we have used:

1. As soon as the date is set start letting churches in your area know about the seminar and invite their members to participate.

2. Have a flier available in church bulletins for two or three Sundays well in advance. Posters also help.
3. Distribute fliers to doctor’s offices, hospices, funeral homes, as well as churches within a twenty mile radius.
4. Look for Christian radio programs which could also provide interviews with the sponsoring church as this has been a proven way of bringing in many individuals.
5. Provide press releases to the local papers as well as placement of a small ad.
6. Within the local church it is important to encourage everyone to consider this seminar whether they’ve just experienced loss or not. Losses will be a part of everyone’s life.
7. Encourage the congregation to look at the block upon which they live or their workplace and identify those who have experienced a loss and provide them with fliers or even bring them as their guest.

The cost is reasonable. Most churches charge $20.00 per person, with discounts for groups. This ususally pays for the few expenses, including travel expenses for the speaker, honorarium, publicity, syllabus and snacks.
